The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is currently seeking adult volunteers with daytime availability, in order to balance the hospital's current team of student and adult volunteers. Adult candidates can be retired, semi-retired, consultants, Domestic Engineers/home workers. All volunteers are asked to make a minimum commitment to the hospital of one year, working a set shift, once-a-week. The majority of placements are scheduled weekdays during daytime hours, and most shifts are two to four hours long.
Greet members of the public, offer directional information, while providing a high level of customer service in a compassionate and respectful manner to patients and families who present themselves at the information desk.

The impact on patients, families will be improved by focusing on their needs in a prompt and respectful manner.
The impact with internal staff by improving the speed of answer for phone calls and paging.
Allow operators to perform their emergency response tasks without interruptions.
Provide a warm and pleasant welcome to patients, visitors and staff entering the hospital.
Enhance the patient/family experience at the hospital.
Interact with people and help them find their way.
Gain excellent familiarity of CHEO.
