Policies and Deadlines

Policies

Volunteer Ottawa (VO) offers advertising space in its 3 monthly newsletters on a first-come, first-served basis based on space availability. Each of these newsletters is distributed electronically in the first week of each month. Contact us for current subscription, open, and click rates. Print copies are not available. 

All advertising must be clearly distinguishable from VO’s content. VO reserves the right to label advertising with the word “Advertising” when necessary to distinguish the content. To ensure a balance between VO content and advertising, some material may be rejected or deferred based on availability of space.  

Advertisements and articles must have a clear benefit to the newsletter audience. They must be related to volunteering or non-profit work in some way and cannot be for a service that competes with VO’s offerings. VO reserves the right to accept, reject, or edit material. 

Advertising rates are based on electronic artwork and/or text supplied in an accessible file format. For artwork, recommended file formats are JPG, PNG, or PDF. For text, recommended file formats are Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or a .txt file. 

Advertising and/or articles must be submitted by the first of the month ahead of the month of publication. For example, to appear in the November issue, content must be submitted by October 1.  

Payment is required with submission of artwork and/or text to secure the spot. 

All VO newsletters are sent in both official languages. Advertisers receive a 15% discount when they submit all materials in both English and French.

Deadlines

Deadline to submit art and/or text is the start of the month before the month the issue will go out. For example, if advertising in the November issue, then art and text is due by October 1.
