NPO PM Training.org

NPO PM Training.org is a local non-profit which exists to improve the capacity of local charities and NPOs to deliver on their mandates by managing their initiatives more effectively.

The NPO PM Training.org’s leaders are:

Paul Astell is an experienced Project Manager who has worked primarily in the tech sector. In particular, Paul specializes in advanced R&D projects which are unique and have different requirements – not unlike the many different projects in the non-profit sector. He has worked with multiple non-profit organizations on a wide variety of projects. He believes that the right amount of project management is that which gets the job done with minimal overhead and the NPO PM Training.org workshop materials reflect that philosophy. Currently Paul works for the Federal Government at the Communications Research Centre. When not at work, he is an enthusiastic woodworker and he loves to bake bread.

Cliff Thornton is a certified Project Management Professional who has been in the high-tech industry for over 27 years.  Cliff has worked in various roles over his career, ending up finding his enthusiasm for good project management. His roles as a Senior Project Manager have been broad in scope and covered many areas of supporting customers in a technology organization (hardware, software, procurement, legal, process document, etc.) to deploying an entire lab to handle 300 users. During his time with Cognos and IBM, Cliff was a Volunteer Coordinator for the various STEM camps that brought in thousands of kids. Cliff also sings as a Lead with the Capital City Chorus, a male a cappella chorus.
