GACSN is a Saturday recreation program for children, youth and young adults with special needs, ages 9 to 25. The program was the recipient of the CHEO Healthy Kids Award in the category Help for Special Needs. The program runs on Saturdays, 1 to 4 pm, September to June, at the Bob MacQuarrie Recreation Complex, 1490 Youville Drive, in Orleans. Swimming is the highlight of program, followed by arts and crafts, science experiments, games, and spending time with friends. There are occasional outings to Proulx Farm, Museum of Nature, etc. Volunteers enhance the program with their help and friendship, participating in all the activities.
