Matthew House Ottawa is a faith-based, volunteer-driven, charitable organization that helps Ottawa’s marginalised population to establish connected, safe, healthy, and dignified homes within our community. We do this by: 1) Refugee Services: Providing shelter, food and refugee settlement assistance, including volunteer opportunities, in a family atmosphere to refugee claimants so that they may begin their journey to independence as members in Canadian society. 2) Furniture Bank: Distributing quality used furniture and household goods to Ottawa’s marginalised population. Refugee Services provides a safe home environment for up to 9 refugee claimants. We provide a refuge with a home environment and caring support workers. It is a place were people know they are welcome. Furniture Bank provides quality donated furniture and household items to clients referred by social agencies and support groups throughout the city. MHO: FB currently helps more than 60 families a month furnish their own homes.
