Become a VO Member

Volunteer Ottawa membership is open to registered charities, non-profit organizations, and local community groups. Organization membership fees are based on the annual revenue reported in your most recent financial statements. Volunteer Ottawa membership runs on a fixed term from April 1 to March 31 of the following year.

Membership fees are based on your organization size, which is calculated by your organization’s most recent annual revenue category. Click here to learn more about signing up and financial statements.

 Membership is for charities, non-profits, and community organizations. For-profit organizations may join only under specific guidelines and are not eligible for the free membership tier. Click here to see eligibility guidelines. 

To sign up as a member, start by choosing the correct annual revenue category for your organization:

Small Organizations — Free

Annual Revenue of $0–$75K — Free

Medium Organizations — $200 to $300

Annual Revenue of $76K–$250K — $200/year
Annual Revenue of $251–$500K — $300/year

Large Organizations — $425 to $675

Annual Revenue of $501K–$1M — $425/year
Annual Revenue of $1M–$4.9M — $675/year

Very Large Organizations — $1,000 to $1,500

Annual Revenue of $5M–$9.9M — $1,000/year
Annual Revenue over $10M — $1,500/year

Membership fees can be paid online via credit card or offline via EFT or cheque. Contact us if you require an invoice. Your membership will become active as soon as payment is received. Volunteer Ottawa cannot accept Interac e-transfers.

Memberships do not automatically renew. Members will need to renew their membership on a yearly basis. Click here to learn more about renewing your membership at the same tier or at a higher or lower tier. 

Volunteer Ottawa membership follows a graduated fee formula based on organization’s annual budget:

  • Annual Revenue of $0–$75K: Free
  • Annual Revenue of $76K–$250K: $200/year
  • Annual Revenue of $251–$500K: $300/year
  • Annual Revenue of $501K–$1M: $425/year
  • Annual Revenue of $1M –$4.9M: $675/year
  • Annual Revenue of $5M –$9.9M: $1,000/year
  • Annual Revenue over $10M: $1,500/year
All Organization Members receive the same benefits regardless of membership tier. Membership fees are tiered to reduce barriers for organizations. Our Very Large members help support free access for the smallest charities, non-profits, and community organizations.
 
You will be asked to submit a financial statement, such as a page from your annual report or from your report to the CRA, to confirm that you are in the correct tier. Please DO NOT submit a statement from your personal or business bank account. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]. 
 
VO’s membership year runs from April 1 to March 31. New members who join between January 1 and March 31 will have access to all services for the balance of the current membership year in addition to the year beginning on April 1 (a total of 15 months if signing up on January 1).

Please note: if you choose to pay by cheque, the transaction will only be completed once the cheque arrives at the VO office. For instant access, VO recommends using a credit card. To pay by electronic funds transfer (EFT) or if you require an invoice, please contact [email protected]. VO cannot accept Interac e-transfers.
