Testimonials from our 2023 Event

“It is always such a gift to have a group like this come to help! The task list here is endless and being able to cross off several jobs in one day is nothing short of amazing for us! Please remember us when you have groups large or small looking to volunteer!”

 — Waupoos Foundation

“I wanted to pass along my sincere thanks to the EDC team for their wonderful contributions of sandwiches and Hope Packages this past Monday! Their contributions will go a long way to helping clients coming for meals, grabbing lunches for work, and in our Addiction and Trauma Services programs. Everyone worked very hard and we are so grateful to have these contributions. Thank you again!”

 — The Ottawa Mission

“It was great for us. I hope it continues to be an annual event.”

You decide how many participants you can reasonably accommodate. Group sizes in the past have been anywhere from 3 people to 120 people!

Once your activity is accepted and goes live, you will be kept updated on registrations. You’ll be provided with a final number before June 6, and will also receive an information package with names and contact information. Each activity will have an EDC lead on site.

EDC has set aside some funds to cover the cost of supplies. Tell us what you need and we’ll let you know what can be covered.

No, active membership with Volunteer Ottawa is not required for you to participate. You must be a charity, non-profit or community organization in the greater Ottawa area which regularly works with volunteers.

Members are, of course, welcome to participate as well!

In 2023 the event saw 600 registered participants participating in 40 activities all across Ottawa and surrounding region. Teams of EDC employees fanned out to dozens of non-profits and charities across the city, supporting children and youth, seniors, new Canadians, animals, the environment, and vulnerable populations. Other employees participated in virtual sessions, learning about Emergency Preparedness with the Red Cross, providing interview training to new Canadian job seekers, and learning more about how they can volunteer long-term with organizations across the city.

The 2023 event was extremely well-received both by EDC employees and by the local organizations who partnered with us to host volunteers.
