Being familiar with concepts such as equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) should be a foundational part of non-profit work. But it is often the case that staff in the non-profit sector have not had the chance to fully explore these concepts in a way that renders them more actionable. Join this session to engage in a meaningful exploration of these concepts and how they intersect with the reality of non-profit work.

Learning outcomes
Participants in this workshop will:
- Gain, through concrete examples and scenarios, a foundational understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Situate themselves and evaluate their social positioning to gain insights into biases and gaps in lived experiences
- Explore the concrete impact that approaching non-profit programs and services through an EDI lens can have

Staff leading volunteers, volunteers leading other volunteers, and generalist staff working with volunteers.

About your facilitator
Dwaine Taylor is a consultant, facilitator, fundraiser and the Managing Director of newpact – a social impact learning platform and consulting agency based in Ottawa. He holds a Master’s in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, specializing in impact measurement and evaluation, social enterprise and social value purchasing.
