Every year, millions of dollars in grants are made available to Canadian non-profits and charities. Yet grant-writing and applying for grants are often intimidating processes for non-profit staff and community leaders. This workshop aims at making effective grant writing more accessible to staff working on proposals and other funding applications.
This workshop is part of our Learning Path for Non-Profit Staff, a series of 6 workshops designed for anyone working in the non-profit sector looking to develop and enhance their skills.

Instructor
Tais McNeill is the Manager, Grants at the Ottawa Community Foundation, where he has been since 2014.
Tais is responsible for coordinating the Community Grants Program, supporting the work of the Grants Committee, andâŻtheâŻFoundationâs strategic grant making initiatives. As a member of the Community Engagement Team,âŻTaisâŻhas also sat on review committees for United Way Ottawa, supported the work of the Community Development Framework, and has served as an instructor on grant proposal writing with Volunteer Ottawa.
Before joining the Foundation,âŻTaisâŻworked at Causeway Work Centre where he helped set up a social enterprise dedicated to providing supportive employment.
A native of Chelsea, Quebec, TaisâŻcan usually be found hiking, skiing in Gatineau Park, or working on home renovation projects during his free time.
