Event Details

Successfully engaging volunteers is an essential part of a non-profit’s overall success. Program coordinators, office administrators, or other non-profit staff will have to engage volunteers either as informal volunteer coordinators or as leaders of volunteers. This workshop will equip you with essential skills to effectively engage and support volunteers.

Learning outcomes

Learners participating in this workshop will:

  • Gain insights into how to understand the role of volunteers in their programs and organizations
  • Become introduced to general frameworks for volunteer engagement (volunteer management cycle, ten steps for volunteer screening, CCVI)
  • Acquire practical knowledge of how to put these frameworks into practice

  • New volunteer coordinators
  • Generalist or specialist staff who are also volunteer coordinators
  • Volunteers leading other volunteers

Instructor

Adam Janes is the coordinator, volunteer services at the Ottawa Food Bank. He previously held positions at Volunteer Ottawa and Christie Lake Kids. Adam currently serves on the board of Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada (VMPC).

There is a course minimum of 3 registrants.

An email confirming this registration will be sent to the primary email address for your member account, or the email address on this form if you are a non-member. Your registration is transferrable to anyone else within your organization. The following workshop registrations are non-refundable: (a) purchased at a discounted rate, (b) purchased using a voucher, or (c) cancellation received less than five (5) business days prior to the event. Any other cancellation is refundable, subject to a $10.00 administration fee.
