The Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) is a requirement for many volunteering opportunities that you can find in VolunteerOttawa.ca . While an important step in the screening process for organizations, some individuals who would otherwise be excellent volunteers might not apply due to doubts and lack of information about the VSC.

Join this free learning opportunity for volunteers in which we will discuss everything you need to know about the VSC before applying for a volunteering opportunity that requires it.

This session will count with the participation of Robert Lefebvre, a community liaison for the Ottawa Police Service, who will unpack what the VSC entails for you as a prospective volunteer. What is the “Vulnerable Sector”? Who needs to apply for a VSC? How to do it? What are the processing times and costs associated to it?

We will also feature several active volunteering opportunities with organizations that serve the vulnerable sector and require the VSC. You will be able to learn more about volunteering with Christie Lake Kids, Carefor, Matthew House, and Ottawa Network for Education.
