How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
Wildlife rehabilitation is a rewarding experience, with the majority of a volunteer's time spent on direct care of orphaned wildlife. Previous wildlife rehabilitation experience is not required as we provide on-the-job training in group and individual settings, and provide ongoing support and learning opportunities. Volunteers receive training to care for almost all species at the centre. Volunteers also learn about many aspects of wildlife rehabilitation, such as wildlife identification, natural behaviours, animal handling, animal health monitoring and environmental enrichment. With a common passion for animals and team camaraderie, volunteers can expect to make long lasting friendships.
How will the organization benefit?
Animal care assistants play an essential role in helping to give wildlife a second chance at life in the wild. The more dedicated volunteers we have, the more animals we can help. It's our people who fuel us:)
Volunteer location:
The wildlife centre is located about 15 minutes southwest of North Gower, Ontario (about 30 minutes from westend Ottawa). There is no public transit to our facility.
