You know a thing or two about bikes? Like Rainbows? Think of this team as the ultimate valet service for bikes. While these shifts are among some of the later shifts in the Volunteer department, this energetic team loves to encourage green transportation!

People biking to the festival want a safe and convenient place to leave their bicycle while they enjoy the Bluesfestivities, and Bike Park is that place. For over 15 years, Ottawa Bluesfest and Bike Ottawa (www.BikeOttawa.ca) have partnered to provide a top-notch valet bike parking service that is fast, convenient, supervised, and FREE!

Volunteers in the Bike Park compound serve anyone coming to Ottawa Bluesfest by bicycle, be they a paying patron, volunteer, or visitor. This service operates like a coat check, where only Bike Park volunteers are allowed inside the compound. Donations are not mandatory to use the service, but are gratefully accepted and go to Bike Ottawa and Ottawa Bluesfest’s charities, Blues in the Schools and Be in the Band.

Duties:
-greet cyclists and provide claim chits
-attach tags to handlebars with rubber bands
-walk customer bicycles to the assigned location in the compound
-retrieve bikes for cyclists upon presentation of the claim chit
-answer festival-related questions

Requirements:
-must be 15 years of age or over
-Accessibility Standards Customer Service Training
-this position requires individuals to be flexible, energetic & reliable
-willing to stand for long periods of time
-willing to work in all types of weather
-light physical labour is required within the Bike Park compound

Skills:
-effective communication skills
-exceptional attention to detail
-able to put bikes in numerical order
-excellent interpersonal skills

Assets:
-willingness to work late shifts (until 11:30 p.m. or midnight)
-familiarity with bicycles
-bilingualism
