Mission
Shepherds of Good Hope fosters hope and reduces harm in Ottawa by supporting individuals experiencing homeless in our community with specialized services, programs and partnerships.

Shepherds of Good Hope (SGH) requires community oriented, committed individuals to join our Board of Directors to assist us in providing innovative shelter and supportive housing programs and services for adults of all genders.

We:
 Help stabilize people through our innovative shelter programs
 Provide permanent homes to more than 250 individuals with on-site, around-the-clock care and access to services in our supportive housing residences
 Serve thousands at our soup kitchen and evening drop-in centre

ABOUT BOARD CANDIDACY:
As an ideal director, you have a keen interest in providing governance, helping to create, monitor and evaluate the organization’s strategic plan and directions, in addition to providing performance management and evaluation of the CEO. Preference is also given to those with senior leadership at the CEO or VP level and servicing on not-for-profit boards.

You have experience in serving on a volunteer board and a solid understanding in a community and health care focused environment is important. You are a community leader with a combination of entrepreneurial skills or key competencies essential to providing sound decision-making and oversight to the SGH Board, such as:
 Construction/Development
 Finance (CPA Designation)/Risk Management
 Indigenous expertise
 Social Services
 Academic/Research in the areas of mental health, substance use disorders, trauma, housing, homelessness and poverty
 Marketing/Branding/Advertising/Social Media
 Lived expertise

As community oriented committed individuals and a current resident of the City of Ottawa/Gatineau or Greater Ottawa Area, Directors are expected to attend up to six meetings annually, participate on a board committee and support key organization events.

How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
You will contribute to an organization who is dedicated to meeting the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness and vulnerably-housed individuals in the city of Ottawa through providing around-the-clock, comprehensive services to all genders in seven supportive housing, shelter and programming locations across the city from Kanata to Rideau-Rockcliffe. You will gain board experience, an enhanced knowledge of issues surrounding homelessness in Ottawa, and is a great networking opportunity.

SGH will benefit from having you bring your passion and experience to the Board of Directors to expand our knowledge base, expand our network, and continue to be able to provide services to the community.
Volunteer location:
Board meetings are held at Shepherds of Good Hope's various locations from Kanata to Rideau-Rockcliffe and virtually.
