Westboro Academy (AWA) is a small, independent day school from kindergarten to grade 8 located in Ottawa. The school’s mission is to provide a truly bilingual and exceptional education, in a community focused and nurturing environment anchored in values of Excellence, Integrity and Respect. The AWA Board of Directors is composed of up to 12 members who are responsible for the school’s overall stewardship and governance, which includes overseeing the school’s financial affairs, policies and strategic direction, and appointment and evaluation of the Head of School. The Board is a dedicated group of volunteers recruited for their specific skills and expertise and is committed to ensuring the school achieves its mission and vision. The Board meets monthly for ten months of the year and also conducts its business through the finance committee and the governance committee that bring recommendations to the full Board.

The Board of Directors is currently seeking interest from candidates with a proven depth of governance expertise and leadership to complement the Board’s existing skills and qualifications, who share AWA’s values and commitment to excellence in education. We are currently looking for individuals with leadership in one or more of the following areas:

– Financial planning, investment management, accounting
– Risk Management
– Policy development and governance leadership
– Strategic communication
– Labour law
