Board of Directors
The Ottawa-Carleton Association for Developmental Disabilities (OCAPDD), founded in 1955 is a community not for profit organization providing a diverse array of programs and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities and complex care requirements. There will be an opportunity for membership on the Board of Directors commencing September 2024.
The organization is a partially designated bilingual agency, providing a range of supports and services in the greater Ottawa area and in Cornwall. The Board composition reflects a mix of individuals. This includes both those with direct family experience, and others with particular knowledge and skills beneficial to strengthening the Board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities. All Board members contribute to the organization continuing to effectively support those currently served, and advocating for expanded capacity for the wider target population. In particular, the Board seeks candidates with previous Board experience, along with an awareness of the local and provincial social services system for those with developmental disabilities who require access to lifelong services and support. Bilingual capacity, while not a requirement, will be viewed as an asset. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in one or more of the following areas: policy planning, fiduciary oversight, inter-agency collaboration, communications, government/community advocacy, social enterprise, organizational and governance evaluation.
