Description
The Ottawa Community Land Trust (OCLT) is on a mission to preserve and increase affordable housing – forever.
Our work centers on securing homes and land to be retained for affordable housing and community-driven spaces, ensuring they serve community needs for generations to come.
Board of Directors – Role and Commitment
● Strategic governance and oversight of OCLT operations.
● Advocacy and representation of OCLT within your networks and communities.
● Active participation in board meetings, committee work, and strategic planning.
● A commitment to transparency, ethical leadership, and community engagement.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
This is more than a call for board members; it’s an invitation to be at the forefront of a community-led movement to secure and steward land - and affordable housing - for the common good.
How will the organization benefit?
We recognize that our current Board does not fully reflect the rich diversity of backgrounds, identities, and life experiences among members of our community, and that to truly embody our mission, this needs to change. We especially encourage candidates from under-represented communities,
We want to hear from you!
● We value diverse housing stories, and welcome those with experience and knowledge in co-operative and/or non-profit housing.
● We are calling on residents from historically underserved and marginalized communities to help us shape strategies that are truly inclusive.
● We aim to enhance our capacity to work with and for francophone communities, and encourage francophones to join us.
● While we value diverse backgrounds over formal qualifications, we are looking to strengthen capacity related to law, real estate, community organizing and financial management (including bookkeeping, accounting, investing). Specifically, we are seeking nominations to fill the role of Treasurer.
