The role of this volunteer
Cuso International is looking for a person passionate about the rights of women, girls and LGTBIQ people!
The overall purpose of the position is to provide technical assistance to DEMUS in the implementation of its communications campaigns to promote a life free of violence, discrimination and sexual autonomy for women and LGBTIQ people.
Demus is a feminist organisation that is committed to promoting transformations in the hegemonic culture that reproduces machismo, heteronormativity, classism, racism, etc. As well as making visible the violation of sexual and reproductive rights of women and LGTBIQ+ people, and demanding justice.
Our campaigns contribute to the recognition and full exercise of sexual and reproductive rights, translated into platforms such as Somos2074, Caso Manta, #DecidirSinCulpa, #IgualdadDeGéneroYA, Defensoras no están solas, Justicia Arcoíris, among others. With your knowledge and experience you will be able to support causes to advance the full exercise of women’s rights.

While volunteering, you will have the following objectives:
Monitoring news and/or current affairs to feed our campaigns and institutional positioning.
Support in the proposal and elaboration of audiovisual material according to the requirements of the campaigns and/or institutional positioning.
Support in the monitoring and review of the communication products of the campaigns according to milestones and/or key dates.
Support in the monitoring of the CM’s of campaigns and management of institutional social networks.
Support in the verification of data provided by the CM’s reports and/or communication contracts of the campaigns, for a permanent analysis, monitoring and evaluation.
Develop case studies on Demus campaigns.
Contribute to the articulation with the communications team of CUSO and GAC to improve the reach and dissemination of Demus activities.
Support DEMUS and Cuso International with the campaign implementation matrix.
Essential academic qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, socio-political marketing.
Work experience and/or studies related to feminism, gender and human rights
Basic-intermediate command of audio-visual tools (A. Illustrator, A. Photoshop, A. Premiere)
Essential professional experience:
Development or implementation of communication, marketing and/or branding strategies.
Knowledge of and commitment to gender equality
Good writing, editing of reports and publications
High organisational level of assigned activities.
Ability to work in a team and support several campaigns simultaneously.

Bonus: Additional return flight home or cash in lieu after 12 months of service for volunteers who extend for another 6 months
Fundraising
We ask each volunteer, regardless of placement length, to raise $2,000. All volunteers receive support from Cuso International to help achieve the goal through fundraising. If the volunteer chooses not to fundraise or is unable to achieve the fundraising goal, he/she can make a one-time donation or become a monthly donor to support our work.
