The Learning Disabilities Association of Ottawa-Carleton is a charitable organization that was established nearly 60 years ago. Our mission is to help the community thrive through the challenges of learning disabilities (LDs) and other learning differences by raising awareness, advocating, and offering programs and resources. The LDAO-C is a committed partner in shaping an inclusive community where diverse learners are valued and have the tools and supports they need to succeed. Our board is a diverse group of parents, educators, professionals, as well as individuals with lived experience — and we’re looking for additional inspiring voices at the table at a time of unprecedented growth for the organization.

Position: Member of the Board

– Experience with non-profits, and/or knowledge of learning disabilities highly desired
– Skill sets highly desired: Marketing, Communications, Social Media, Fundraising, Event Planning, Finance, Education, Law, Human Resources, Employment

If you are passionate about public education and advocacy, want to collaborate with other volunteers and are committed to improving the lives of people with learning disabilities, you could be the right fit for our Board of Directors.

LDAOC is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. We especially welcome applications from members of visible minorities, Indigenous peoples, persons with learning disabilities or similar lived experience, members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and others who may contribute to further diversification of ideas.

This role requires you to attend monthly meetings (currentlly virtual, taking place on the second Tuesday of each month. Please note that the minimum time commitment is approximately 2 hours a month. Please inquire for a full description of the role at [email protected].

Volunteer location:
Mostly virtual, but may occasionally may meet in person in a central location.
