Description

Are you interested and passionate about the arts? Looking for an opportunity to contribute to the community? Want to network and meet people, apply your talents in new ways and develop skills?

Odyssey Theatre has an opening on its Board for a creative and organized volunteer to help develop marketing strategies to raise awareness of Ottawa’s premier professional summer theatre. We offer a supportive, collaborative and inclusive environment and welcome people of different cultures, backgrounds and experiences as we seek to reflect the diversity of our community.

Director, Marketing
We are seeking a creative and dynamic new member who wants to make a difference as a Director, Marketing on our Board of Directors. You will collaborate with the Artistic Director, Board and staff to help us identify and engage target audiences, develop exciting new digital marketing campaigns that reflect Odyssey’s brand, and promote both our live season of Theatre Under the Stars as well as new online projects such as our podcast series and a digital mask museum. You will be able to contribute to the design and re-building of our new website and to our discoverability strategy. We are looking for someone who is highly creative, a great collaborator and who has experience in digital marketing, websites, social media platforms, analytical tools, digital ads, and SEO/SEM.

Board of Directors
As a non-profit charity, our Board of Directors plays a critical leadership role in helping Odyssey achieve its artistic mandate. Board members are asked to attend approximately 10 meetings per year, and to join a committee or get involved with a specific Board project. Members can expect a time commitment of 6-10 hours per month, for a two-year term.

ABOUT ODYSSEY THEATRE
We introduced open-air theatre to Ottawa in 1986. For 37 years, we have been enchanting audiences with our Theatre Under the Stars by the banks of the Rideau River in Strathcona Park. Odyssey’s award-winning productions are renowned for their highly skilled performances and imaginative staging featuring masks and physical movement. We are expanding into digital theatre programs, such as our fantasy audio drama podcast, The Other Path, reaching audiences around the world. The Theatre supports creators of new works, provides training for artists and youth, is developing an online museum of our mask collection, and engages diverse communities underserved by the arts.
