Description
Are you ready to rock ‘n roll for a cause? The Council on Aging is hosting a intergenerational rock themed fundraising walk event on Saturday, September 28th, 2024. We are looking for spirited volunteers that are eager to help out in the most electrifying way! Some of the roles include: registration, stage hand, setup/teardown, A/V, security, crowd control, BBQ, canteen, bouncy castles, cleanup, among others.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
By volunteering at the Walk of Ages, you will have a sense of purpose and belonging. You will discover a passion for older adults, and be confident that you are making a difference in the lives of older adults in this generation and in generations to come.
For students, we will sign off on your volunteer hours.
How will the organization benefit?
Throughout the Council's history, we have proudly remained a volunteer-driven organization. We are grateful to have had our volunteers over the years, and because of them, Ottawa has become a more age-friendly city. But there is still much to be done.
By recruiting volunteers to the Walk of Ages, we take another step towards our vision of having respected, informed and engaged older adults living in an age-friendly city. No matter a persons age, their cultural, ethnic, political, and religious backgrounds, and gender and sexual orientation identities, we are all aging. It is something that we all share. Our hope is that the Walk of Ages causes a shift in thinking that aging is only for older adults. That barriers be broken and that we all take up the cause of aging. And that intergenerational connectivity would begin to form.
