We are seeking a volunteer Executive Director

Hygge Homesharing is a non-profit organization founded in 2018, dedicated to connecting people with a place in their homes and their hearts to share space and a mutually supportive relationship with 2SLGBTQ folks who need a place to live. What matters most is compassion, compatibility, and mutual respect.

Reporting to the Board, the Executive Director is accountable and responsible for evaluating homeowner and homesharer needs, making suitable connections between them, and facilitating collaboration when discussing the terms of the homesharing agreement. The Executive Director commits to continuing to support homeshare matches by engaging in conversations and promoting the use of community moderating services. The Executive Director provides leadership and guidance in all elements of Hygge Homesharing. They/she/he operate and engage in the development, implementation, and evaluation of homesharing services while demonstrating Hygge Homesharing values and standards. This person will work closely with the Board and Volunteer Coordinator while recruiting roles for the Community Coordinator and Fundraising Coordinator.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
Maintain relationships with community organizations, identifying opportunities for collaboration
Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator, Fundraising Coordinator, Community Coordinator, and volunteers
Attend board meetings to provide updates that guide future planning
Develop community initiatives to promote Hygge’s mission
Act as day-of representative for community events
Participates and supports the Community Coordinator and Fundraising Coordinator in administrative practices
Ensures compliance with legal requirements around personal and organizational liability
Drives the inside marketing process by continuing community connections, in collaboration with the Community Coordinator
Assures that home sharers and home owners have an opportunity to communicate needs openly
Directs the implementation of service goals and objectives
Investigates issues and ensures prompt follow up to support matches in accessing community-based moderation services
Protects confidentiality of all applicants
Ensures that all applicant information, roommate questionnaires, contacts, and plans are maintained and up to date
Evaluates service policies and functions which affect Hygge Homesharing, and recommends proposals for changes
Ensure alignment and compliance to by-laws in accordance with Ontario’s Not-for-profit Corporations Act (ONCA) and the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (CNCA)
Assume fiduciary responsibility: acting honestly, in good faith, and in the best interest of the organization, as accountable to the board and voting members of Hygge Homesharing

Experience managing social media accounts
Proficient communication skills; experienced with business-level email and phone etiquette
