Upstream Ottawa is looking for a Volunteer to help prepare food for our First Connections Luncheon.

Volunteer Job Description: Preparing Food for First Connections Luncheon

Volunteer Reports to: Identified Food Coordinator and Brian Cornelius, First Connections Food Coordinator.

Summary expectations:

Purchases ingredients to complete the supplied recipe, and all expenses will be reimbursed. This will be one part of a larger meal.

Prepares the food in advance of the event at home or at church depending on individual choice and meal

Cooking utensils such as pots and large containers are available.

Delivers the food on Thursday morning to First United,

347 Richmond Road.

May stay to help with serving the luncheon if desired.

Maximum time – one part of a meal once a month.
Minimum time – contributing to a meal every third month

A schedule will be worked out.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must present in a friendly manner

• Must be dependable and punctual

• Be courteous and personable when dealing with the attendees

• Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and jump in where needed

• Respect and maintain confidentiality of all attendees

• Other duties

 Orientation will be provided

Training and supervision conducted by:

 Overall coordinator (Brian Cornelius) will check in after each event to elicit feedback on the experience, and implement suggested changes.

Time Commitment

 1st Connections Luncheon, 4th Thursday of each month

volunteering can be done at home, anywhere from 4 to 6 hours.

This is great opportunity to socialize and network with our wonderful community in Ottawa.
How will the organization benefit?
This is a monthly luncheon for our clients that provides a safe environment, that promotes recovery through social networking and recreational/educational activities. We operate this monthly luncheon in conjunction with the Canadian Mental Health Association Ottawa Branch and the First United Church in Westboro.
