Do you enjoy cooking? Have you experienced cooking for large numbers of people?
Meal Prep Volunteers support the preparation of the meals alongside other dedicated volunteers and Support staff. Centre 507 serves hot meals and snacks 7 days a week. We are currently looking for volunteers from 9:00am-11:00am as well as 1:00pm-3:00pm.
The tasks include:
– Assisting with basic food preparation as per instructions by the Food Services Coordinator or support staff, such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruit
– Prepare, heat, and finish simple food items
– Portion, assemble, and wrap food. Setting up for meal service
– Using common appliances, utensils and tools including knives and peelers •
Candidates must be 19+ years of age, double vaccinated and able to climb stairs. Some standing and twisting also involved.
The volunteer will be part of a lively staff and volunteer team. The volunteer reports to the Volunteer coordinator.
You will be assisting the Centre 507 to provide meals to its diverse Participants. Our provision of food and refreshments have been identified as essential service by the City of Ottawa. Many volunteers feel a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment and connection to a community. You will engage community members, assist with food security and be working in a team with other staff and volunteers.
