Homework Club Program Tutor (Ruth E. Dickinson Library in Barrhaven)
Description
Are you a student, professional, retiree or someone who loves working and being around kids? We have the perfect opportunity for you.
United for Literacy Ottawa is currently looking for tutors to help children and youth grades 1 to 6 (ages 6 to 12) with their French homework as well as their French reading and writing skills to accommodate the high demand for French learning support in Ottawa.
Volunteering with the Homework Club Program is an excellent way to gain experience in early childhood education or literacy tutoring! It is also an ideal environment to contribute meaningfully to your community. We require no prior teaching experience and provide you with all of the training and materials you need. Just bring your communication skills, patience, enthusiasm and love of learning!
WHERE AND WHEN DO OUR ACTIVITIES TAKE PLACE?
This program will take place at the Ruth E. Dickinson Library in Barrhaven. The date and time that the program will take place is still TBD, but it will happen once a week on a weekday evening for an hour long, within the time range of 4-7:30pm. However, volunteers can choose to tutor virtually or opt for a hybrid model (half in person and half online) if they wish.
If you are tutoring online, tutoring sessions occur once a week via Zoom/MS Teams/Google Meets video conference call and last approximately one hour each. Sessions are scheduled based on tutors’ and learners’ availability.
