Friday Morning Breakfast Cook

Do you enjoy cooking? Have you experienced cooking for large numbers of people?
Centre 507 serves breakfast for upwards of 50 people at a time, 5 days a week. We are currently looking for 1 volunteer on Friday mornings from 8:30am – 10am. The breakfast cook with liaise with support staff and to volunteer servers.
The tasks include:
– Assisting with basic food preparation as per instructions by the Food Services Coordinator or support staff, such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruit
– Prepare, heat, and finish simple food items. i.e. eggs, French toast, perhaps a side of fruit, cereal and milk etc.
– Portion, assemble, and wrap food. Setting up for meal service for 9am opening
– Using common appliances, utensils and tools including knives and peelers, a breakfast grill or Kitchen oven/stove.
*Candidates must be 19+ years of age, double vaccinated and able to climb stairs. Some standing and twisting also involved. Community members are served in a socially distanced manner and staff members sanitize areas after each guest. Other considerations: double vaccinated and wear a mask while on-site.

Many volunteers feel a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment and connection to a community. You will engage community members, assist with food security and be working in a team with other staff and volunteers.
How will the organization benefit?
The volunteer will be part of a lively staff and volunteer team. The volunteer reports to the Volunteer coordinator.
