Friendly Visiting volunteers are an unique group of volunteers who reach out to isolated seniors in long term care. Friendly visiting with residents in long term care contributes immeasurably to the health, quality of life and well -being of the resident. The time spent together and the personal interest demonstrated by the volunteer communicates caring and connections for those folks diagnosed with dementia or other related medical conditions. Friendly visiting can sometimes include other activities such as helping with baking, adult coloring, reading aloud, board games and social teas.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
The volunteer will learn first hand how connections can be established through touch, tone of voice and laughter. The volunteer will learn how to build friendships and establish a connections with those who are socially isolated.
How will the organization benefit?
We cannot run our programs with out the support of volunteers.
