Fundraising Committee Member
Description
The purpose of the Fundraising Committee is to develop new, and nurture existing relationships with individuals, corporations and foundations in support of the work of CPAWS Ottawa Valley’s mission to protect the rich natural heritage of the Ottawa River watershed region of Quebec and Ontario. Volunteers on the committee work with staff to develop an annual fundraising plan, support its implementation by assisting with donor outreach and development, assisting with the planning and execution of events and other initiatives designed to steward existing donors and to recruit new potential donors and supporters. While the focus of the committee’s work to date has been on the development of relationships with individuals, we would like to expand the scope of the committee’s mandate to include corporate giving. No experience is needed, we are seeking people with new ideas and approaches! The committee meets monthly by Zoom with approximately two to three events during the year where committee members would be expected to attend. Past events have included dinners, lectures with special guests like Robert Bateman, art shows and sales and peer to peer events, like our annual Thanks to Nature campaign.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
This opportunity is a great way to get involved in a leadership role with the organization and apply skills toward important conservation outcomes in the region. The role is also ideal for those looking to make and grow connections in the community, learn about environmental and conservation issues and meet others who care about similar issues. We would be pleased to offer a reference for work or school.
How will the organization benefit?
The organization will benefit from renewed engagement on the committee, especially given the impact of covid-19 on organizations like ours which largely depended on in-person events for donor recruitment and stewardship.
