Ancoura, a small Ottawa-based charity dedicated to providing nurturing environments for adults living with mental illness, seeks a passionate Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator to join our team on a part-time basis.
Position Details:
• Part-time role: 5 hours per week on a volunteer basis
• Lead the newly rejuvenated fundraising committee that reports to the Ancoura board.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy and vision for Ancoura
• Head up and guide the newly formed fundraising committee
• Manage and expand our donor base, focusing on private donors and community partnerships
• Plan and execute fundraising campaigns and events that reflect our commitment to mental health advocacy and education
• Utilize targeted communications, including social media, to enhance fundraising efforts and raise awareness about mental health issues
• Work closely to align the fundraising committee’s work to that of the communications committee.
• Foster a culture of cooperation and teamwork
• Bring new ideas and practices to Ancoura’s fundraising efforts
Qualifications:
• Experience in non-profit fundraising
• Strong knowledge of the full suite of fundraising best practices
• Strong leadership skills to guide the fundraising committee effectively
• Ability to develop strategic fundraising plans
• Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with residents, volunteers, staff, and community partners
• Proficiency in donor management systems/softwares and practices
• Knowledge of social media and digital fundraising strategies
• Ability to motivate and lead volunteers in a compassionate, respectful manner
• Basic understanding of fundraising data and reporting metrics

The ideal candidate will be committed to Ancoura’s principles of fostering caring relationships, promoting equality and dignity, and working towards removing the stigma of mental illness. They will play a crucial role in expanding our organization’s financial resources and supporting our mission of providing stable housing and a supportive community for people living with mental illness in Ottawa.
Ancoura will consider less-experienced candidates who have some post-secondary education in the area of fundraising (e.g. Algonquin College fundraising program or similar programs).
