Description

The Ottawa Regional Science Fair is organized and run by a volunteers to encourage students in the Ottawa-Carleton Region, from grades 7 to 12, to research, develop, and present projects in the fields of science and engineering. Each year, approximately 200 projects are entered and judged. We award over $25,000 worth in prizes, including 11 all expenses paid trips to compete at the Canada-Wide Science Fair.

We are looking for a new committee member who would like to join our fundraising team. We typically raise between $20,000 and $30,000 in funds. Currently we have someone on our team who coordinates our recurring donors. We also have a couple of other committee members who’ve done some outreach to attract new donors.

What we really need is to find two or three major donors (at a level of $1000 or above). The new committee member will be responsible to reach out to organizations we think would be most interested in sponsoring the ORSF. This could include educational institutions as well as companies in the engineering and science sectors. Opportunities abound, but we just haven’t had anyone to do the outreach!

If you could see yourself reaching out to potential sponsors in the Ottawa area and make a pitch for why sponsoring the ORSF is a great idea, then this is your opportunity!

You would also be a part of our organizing committee, joining about 4 meetings a year where we plan the fair. On the days of the fair you would be invited to help out as well of course, and get to see all the wonderful student projects we are able to give a stage to thanks to the support of our sponsors.
