Gatineau Park Committee Member
Description
The Gatineau Park Committee of CPAWS Ottawa Valley works to secure long-term protection for Gatineau Park through changes to legislation, policy and through community outreach and education. The committee develops strategies and plans aimed at securing legislative protection for the park through an Act of Parliament or amendments to existing Acts through targeted research, government relations and public engagement (petitions, community information tables, guided walks). The committee also provides recommendations on park management to the National Capital Commission through regular meetings and by commenting on plans (Master Plan, transportation plan, etc.). Finally, the committee works to educate the public on issues facing Gatineau Park through social media content, website content and in the media.
