Gladstone Theatre Usher
Description
The Gladstone relies on volunteers to help us deliver ‘great theatre’ to our patrons. We are looking for fun, energetic, reliable theatre lovers.
The Gladstone ushers are all volunteers. Our ushers are friendly; they are ambassadors for our venue – promoting The Gladstone and making patrons feel welcome and comfortable when they come to the threatre.
Volunteers will: look after the “Will Call” desk before a show; look after the Coat Check before & after a show; check tickets as patrons enter the theatre; help patrons find their seat in the theatre; assist a patron if there is an issue during a show.
The Gladstone provides a unique and inclusive space for local independent theatre companies to create and deliver programming which recognizes and supports our city’s diversity. The Gladstone is committed to delivering quality theatrical entertainment for patrons; and its mission is to operate a sustainable and affordable facility for Ottawa’s independent theatre companies where shared services, programming and opportunities for artistic development and professional work can be coordinated, realized and presented to local audiences.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
Volunteering at The Gladstone gives volunteers the chance to help deliver local indie theatre to patrons in the Ottawa area. Volunteers are helping to support the development and growth of local indie theatre.
And, at the same time, volunteers have the chance to see some local theatre (during their shift) and the chance to meet and socialize with other like-minded individuals.
How will the organization benefit?
Without our volunteers, The Gladstone would not be able to deliver 'great theatre' to our patrons. It is very important to make sure our patrons feel welcome and comfortable when they come to the theatre. And it takes a team to deliver that feeling.
Our volunteers give The Gladstone the opportunity to continue in its mission to operate a sustainable and affordable facility for Ottawa's independent theatre companies.
We are exceedingly grateful for our volunteer efforts. We could not deliver great theatre without them.
