Boxing4Health specialises in delivering evidence based exercises programs, focused on fitness-inspired boxing classes to seniors and individuals living with Parkinson’s Disease and we are eager to share our expertise and resources with the students of your Fitness and Health program.
As a volunteer you will:
Encourage clients
Support instructors with exercises
Set up and take down equipment
Contribute to high energy of the class
Make a difference and boost morale
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
By participating in your volunteering program, we hope to accomplish the following objectives:
-Provide students with hands-on experience in fitness with seniors and those within the general population containing neurodegenerative disorders, primairlity, Parkinson's Disease and balance
-Foster a sense of social responsibility and civic engagement among the student body.
-Create meaningful connections between our company and the academic community.
-Contribute positively to the local community through collaborative efforts with students.
Volunteers receive a 50-minute training video, training on gym floor, feedback and encouragement.
Volunteers are invited to the annual orientation workshops to learn more about exercise and education regarding Parkinson’s Disease.
Volunteers are invited to our monthly webinars for members. Each month we have a different speaker offering a wealth of relevant information and this could be very educational for anyone interested in working in health care, with seniors and/or people with disabilities, etc.
Our community of fighters are an inspirational group, fighting back against PD on a daily basis. Their commitment is amazing and volunteers walk away with a strong feeling of being able to make a difference.
How will the organization benefit?
The members of Boxing4Health will be given more opportunites to engage with a variety of community members. In addition we are able to give more attention to the people affected by PD and assist them in more ways.
