Please Note: This program runs on Wednesday afternoons 1:00pm-3:30pm for the volunteer commitment.

Volunteers with the Home Wide Art Assistant will help facilitate open paint sessions along side our Art Program Facilitator. Duties will include;
– Assisting residents to and from home areas throughout the building. This will require being able to push wheelchairs, training will be provided.
-Assist with room set up and clean up of tables, chairs and painting supplies.
-Assist residents with completing their painting such as gathering paint colors, offering suggestions and positive encouragement of the creative process.

How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
The volunteer will gain skills related to supporting older adults living with dementia and other cognitive/ physical impairments to meaningfully participate in activities. They will gain knowledge related to the creative process and exploring individuals individual art expression.
How will the organization benefit?
The residents we support participate weekly in painting programs on the individual home areas. Through the volunteer support for our Centre Wide Art Program residents who significantly enjoy the painting program will be able to participate an additional time biweekly. The art program offers an outlet for creativity and emotional expression. Through increased participation our residents' emotional well-being will be improved.

77 Monk Street Please note that we are not able to provide parking near the home. There is free on street parking with a time limit of 2 hours. The bright side we are on direct bus routes 6 and 7 that have stops right in front of the Centre on Bank Street.
