ImmUnity Canada Conference Volunteers

Description
We are holding a national conference in Ottawa on April 14th-16th 2023, and looking for volunteers to help make this a memorable and worthwhile experience for everyone involved.
Roles available for the conference are:
# Registration/information desk
# ‘Walk for Immunity Canada’ registration desk
# Microphone attendants for post-talk Q&A sessions
# Greeters/wayfinders
# Runners/floaters
More details about the roles can be provided by emailing: [email protected]
We are seeking positive, friendly, sociable, compassionate and outgoing individuals, as these are mainly front-facing, customer-service type roles assisting both health professionals and patients.
Our volunteer policy is that you should be over 17 years old.
We are asking for commitment to a minimum of two short (2 hour) shifts over the period of the 3-day conference. All volunteers will be expected to wear masks as part of our COVID-19 policy at the conference.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
This is an opportunity to get behind the scenes in the running of a national conference, meet some interesting people, try out different roles and help support people in the rare disease community. You will also get an opportunity to work with seasoned volunteers within the organization, and learn from them.
All volunteers will receive:
# Free registration to the conference, with world renowned speakers on immune deficiency
# Free food (excluded are the two receptions and Awards dinner)
# A certificate of appreciation
# A reference, if requested
How will the organization benefit?
Immunity Canada is heavily reliant on its small but dedicated base of volunteers. Organizing a national conference takes a lot of work, and we really want this to be a memorable event for participants, speakers and volunteers. Volunteers will help to create a positive atmosphere for conference attendees, and make a valuable contribution to our new mission to empower people with immune deficiency.
We also want to raise awareness about immune deficiency disorders, since they are usually diagnosed late in life, and new volunteers can help us to do this. Immunity Canada is also looking to attract volunteers from outside the immune deficiency community for longer term future roles across Canada, and we would welcome people with fresh ideas for other upcoming opportunities.
