POSITION: Friendly Visitor – IN PERSON

OBJECTIVE: To reduce the isolation of a senior or adult with a disability in the community

DUTIES: To meet and/or call regularly at a time that is convenient for both of you.
To call the client if you are unavoidably detained for a visit
To inform the coordinator if you are concerned about the person you visit.
To keep in touch with the coordinator and to call in your hours each month
To inform both the coordinator and the client if you need to stop volunteering

QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
Reliable and patient
An understanding and respect of confidentiality
Must speak one of the following languages: Portuguese, French, Spanish Russian or Polish

LOCATION: To visit client in their home, or a predetermined location

TIME COMMITMENT:
One meeting or call per week (1-2 hours)

Responsible to the coordinator of the friendly visiting program
