Description
Volunteer Ottawa needs a volunteer to conduct occasional assessments of our computer equipment and software and make recommendations on what we should keep and what is ready for recycling. The volunteer will reconfigure and upgrade the equipment we decide to keep and set it up for use by Volunteer Ottawa staff and volunteers. Our inventory includes desktop and laptop computers (PC), monitors, speakers and printers of different ages and capabilities.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with good knowledge of office technology who is interested in a flexible, short-term commitment involving a few days of effort now and/or occasional assignments on an as-needed basis. The volunteer can set their own schedule provided the work is done during office hours. This role would suit an IT support specialist, a student studying computer systems technology, or someone seeking professional workplace experience in Ottawa. We can provide a reference suitable for sharing with an employer or educational institution.
How will the organization benefit?
Volunteer Ottawa is a small local nonprofit which connects volunteers with the organizations who need their help. We need to make the best possible use of the computer equipment and software we already have before we invest in new equipment.
