The Java Music club program is a research-based support activity group designed for residential care. The program is designed to have easy step-by-step instructions for facilitation with a focus on peer support. Volunteers will support Program Facilitator Staff to facilitate a weekly or biweekly Java Music program to increase social interaction and peer to peer support for the residents.

-Support with program set up including gathering supplies and organization of space (rearranging furniture for maximum resident benefit)
-Engage in meaningful conversations with residents during the program relating to the theme/topic.
-Provide encouragement to residents related to program participation.
-Facilitate the Java Music Program as shown in the training.

Fluency in English required, Intermediate skills in other language considered in asset.

Prior experience supporting older adults, specifically those living with dementia and other cognitive/physical decline is considered an asset.

With the support of volunteers we are able to increase the number of residents who can successfully attend the Java Music Club program.
Volunteer location:
77 Monk Street Ottawa Ontario Please note that there is no parking onsite. The neighborhood does have free on street parking and there is paid street parking available at Lansdowne TD place at the volunteer's cost. Our organization is accessible by OC Transpo Routes 6 and 7 with stops right in front of our organization.
