Description
Members knit or crochet, using supplied donated yarn as needed. There are no fees to join us. We like members to be able to work on items of their choice, with whatever support is needed. Some members work just from home, while others attend our bi weekly Monday afternoon get togethers. There is no pressure to produce. If interested, Please indicate whether you would like to join our Monday afternoon get togethers, or work only from home (home Knitter). If you are a student looking for volunteer hours, we can supply yarn for your projects, but your teachers/prof. would need to be asked how your volunteer hours could be counted.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
Knitting and crocheting can be very calming and therapeutic, relieving stress. Research has shown that knitting can also delay memory loss, and help with depression. Our groups are welcoming and friendly, and social. Ideas are shared with like minded people. Our volunteers will be helping those in need of warm clothing, household goods, and accessories. All are welcome. All skill levels needed.
How will the organization benefit?
More members means more hand made articles to give to those in need, through our local charities. We enjoy our alternate Monday afternoon meetings especially being able to welcome new members, and new ideas. Donations of yarn are always needed.
