Marketing-Communications Committee

Description
Are you passionate about communications and looking for a meaningful way to give back? The Council on Aging of Ottawa is building a team of qualified individuals to join our newly formed Marketing and Communications Committee. Our goal and purpose is to communicate the wonderful work of the Council to the public through social media, press releases, news articles and more! The committee will require members to attend a once-a-month meeting and are actively volunteering throughout the month.
We’re seeking volunteers with diverse skills to support our outreach and engagement efforts. Opportunities include:
– Social Media Experts: Help grow and engage our online community through strategic content creation and platform management.
– Copywriters: Craft compelling messages that resonate with our audience.
– Blog Writers: Share inspiring stories, event highlights, and news that reflect our mission.
– Editors: Polish and refine written content for clarity and impact.
– French Translators: Expand our reach by translating key materials into French.
– Graphic Designers: Create visually appealing content to capture the essence of our brand.
– Video Editors: Bring stories to life through dynamic video content.
– Community Engagers: Build and nurture relationships within our community, both online and offline.
If you’re skilled in any of these areas and eager to contribute, we’d love to hear from you! Join the Marketing and Communications Committee and help us advance the wellbeing of Ottawa’s older adults.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
Volunteering for the Marketing and Communications Committee offers an exciting opportunity to sharpen your professional skills while making a real difference for seniors in the Ottawa community. You'll have the chance to cultivate talents in marketing, content creation, and communication strategies. You'll work alongside passionate, like-minded individuals, exchanging ideas and building strong professional relationships. Together, your efforts will expand the Council's reach to a greater number of older adults. This will empower them to better prepare for their life's transitions, and give older adults the opportunity to advocate on key issues that affect their lives.
How will the organization benefit?
Throughout the Council's history, we have proudly remained a volunteer-driven organization. We are grateful to have had our volunteers over the years, and because of them, Ottawa has become a more age-friendly city. But there is still much to be done.
Effective communication is vital to the Council on Aging's mission. It allows us to share the incredible work our dedicated volunteers are doing in key areas like housing, health, transportation, income security, and francophone affairs. By showcasing these efforts, we can raise awareness, inspire action, and ensure that seniors receive the support they need. It also helps foster community engagement, strengthens partnerships, and enhances our ability to advocate for improved services. Sharing our successes and challenges keeps the public informed and connected, driving the momentum needed to improve the quality of life for seniors across our community.
