Media and Public Relations Co-ordinator

This a an executive position.
Reports to the Sponsorship & Awareness Chair
Must be proficient in social media and have promotions experience
Maintains all Ottawa Ride social accounts
Prepares a social media schedule with assistance from the Sponsorship Coordinator (sponsor recognition), the Prostate Cancer Advocate (highlighting prostate cancer survivor stories/statistics) Third Party Events Coordinator and the National office (recommended shares) ensuring message coordination and avoiding post overlap.
Reviews the Ottawa Chapter website to ensure all information/photos are current as approved by the Executive Committee and ensures that the website is consistent with other Chapters and satisfies the expectations of our National Board
Liaises with the Chapters Official Photographer to secure him/her for Ride Day and other key events. Provides photographer with ‘must-have’ photo shots such as key VIPs, volunteers, sponsor recognition, etc.
Collects and organizes Chapter event photos for website and social posts
Responsible for knowing and preparing an Event calendar of all Ottawa chapter activities, as well as other local current events such as our Third-Party Events/Fundraisers, Sponsor promotions, Motorcycle Club Rides and other notable motorcycle events

This is a great introduction to an executive board position responsible for Social Media and Public Relations. This is a very large not-for-profit organization competing for charitable donations in support of Prostate Cancer, in an ever growing charitable environment. This is a key portfolio for the Ottawa Motorcycle Ride For Dad that will provide great experience.
How will the organization benefit?
In todays environment so many charities are vying for charitable funding. One way to increase our presents in the charitable arena is to have a strong social media presents and strong public relations.
Although our Ride is a well established charity event (since 2000) more and more important charities are competing for funding so it is important to stay in the forefront in Social Media.
Volunteer location:
The executive meet in an office on Catherine Street the first Wednesday of each month, more frequently in April and May.
Our Ride event is held the first Saturday in June each year.
Our event starts in the central Ottawa area, but the exact location can change from year to year.
We ask that executive members fulfill a 2 year commitment.
