Mentoring coaches in support of offender reintegration
Mentorship – Aftercare – Presence, also known as “MAP Reintegration”, provides supportive mentoring and life coaching to motivated low-risk offenders who are released into the Ottawa area. Volunteers, who are screened and trained, become part of a small team which assists an offender client to reintegrate into the community. As part of the restorative justice process, the team meets regularly with the client to support his/her planning and connecting with community resources, modelling socially-positive behaviours and guiding the person along an appropriate path. During pandemic times, most teams meet virtually. Re-introduction of in-person meetings to be negotiated within the team.
