Description
Orientation Specialists self-identify as ‘problem-solvers’ and mentors who enjoy helping others make independent decisions. They are often the first main contact that a new client has with Dress for Success and work to both welcome them and set them up for long-term success within our programs and services.
Using the Welcome Path, Orientation Calls and Care Calls Guides, volunteers will walk clients through a variety of questions to determine their current needs and recommend which programs may best address those needs. They listen to what clients are telling them and help them map an Action Plan for our programs and services in an order that best supports their current career journey! They are also responsible for communicating back to Dress for Success after the call has taken place so that staff can continue to support them and provide wrap-around services within the action plan.
Location of Volunteerism: 200 Catherine St (Dress for Success Boutique)
Requirements for Orientation Specialist are as follows:
– Available for at least two 2-3 hour in-boutique volunteer shifts a month (during weekdays between 10am-7:30)**
– Completing and signing the required Dress for Success Volunteer guides and confidentiality documents
– Attending an orientation session
– Securing a Level 2 Police Record Check (Criminal-Judicial)
– Ability to work with clients in both official languages is an asset
** More availability than 2 shifts is appreciated but not required

Les spécialistes en orientation s’identifient comme des « résolveurs de problèmes » et des mentors qui aiment aider les autres à prendre des décisions d’eux-mêmes. Ils sont souvent le premier contact principal qu’un nouveau client a avec Dress for Success et travaillent pour à la fois les accueillir, et les préparer pour un succès à long terme dans le cadre de nos programmes et services.
À l’aide des guides Welcome Path, Orientation Calls, et Care Calls, les bénévoles guideront les clients à travers une variété de questions afin de déterminer leurs besoins actuels et recommander les programmes qui pourraient le mieux répondre à ces besoins. Ils écoutent ce que les clients leur disent et les aident à élaborer un plan d’action pour nos programmes et services dans un ordre qui soutient le mieux leur cheminement de carrière actuel ! Ils sont également responsables de communiquer avec Dress for Success après l’appel afin que le personnel puisse continuer de les soutenir et fournir des services complets dans le cadre du plan d’action.
Lieu du bénévolat : 200 Catherine St (La boutique Dress for Success)
Les exigences pour les spécialistes en orientation sont les suivantes :
– Disponible pour au moins deux quarts de travail bénévoles de 2 à 3 heures par mois en boutique (en semaine entre 10 h et 7 h 30)**
– Remplir et signer les guides et les documents de confidentialité requis de Dress for Success
– Assister à une séance d’orientation
– Obtention d’une vérification du casier judiciaire de niveau 2 (pénale-judiciaire)
– La capacité de travailler avec les clients dans les deux langues officielles est un atout

How will the organization benefit?
Orientation Specialists help set up clients AND the organization itself for success. Before our Orientation Program, many of our clients may have had the misconceptions about their eligibility to access our other programs and weren’t able to get all the help they needed from Dress for Success Ottawa. By supporting clients to learn about and access our full range of services we will be able to meet our mission of empowering women and non-binary individuals to financial security.

Avant notre programme d’orientation, de nombreuses femmes pensaient qu’elles ne pourraient peut-être utiliser qu’un seul programme, qu’elles n’étaient plus clientes parce qu’elles avaient un emploi ou qu’elles n’étaient pas admissibles parce qu’elles étaient également aidées par d’autres. En aidant nos clients à en apprendre davantage sur notre gamme complète de services et à y accéder, nous serons en mesure de remplir notre mission d’autonomisation des femmes et des personnes non binaires vers la sécurité financière.
