OrKidstra Board Members
We’re extremely grateful to the many community leaders, volunteers, and donors who have been a huge part of our success over the past few years.
Among the people who volunteer for OrKidstra are the members of our Board of Directors, who provide oversight and governance and help to shape the future of OrKidstra. Over the next two years, we are looking to add a few people to the Board to bring the value of their wisdom, experience, and expertise and help us plan the next chapter of our mission.
We’re looking for individuals who have a love of music, care deeply about creating an equal opportunity for all children, and have past community and Board experience. In particular, we’re looking for people with professional experience in the following areas:
– Real estate and development
– Social enterprise
OrKidstra is a place of belonging. We are committed to representing the diverse communities we serve on our Board of Directors. We joyfully and actively encourage applications from Indigenous Peoples, new Canadians, IBPOC, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and members of racialized and marginalized groups. We believe our entire OrKidstra family is stronger when it benefits from the understanding and wisdom of people who have lived experiences with the communities we serve.
If you think this would be a good fit for you, please express your interest by emailing OrKidstra’s Executive & Artistic Director, Tina Fedeski, at [email protected] We’d love to hear from you.
OrKidstra is an Ottawa-based social development program that empowers kids, ages 5-18, from under-served communities by teaching life skills – such as teamwork, commitment, respect and pride in achievement – through the universal language of music. With the passionate belief in the transformative power of music, OrKidstra started with 27 children in 2007 and now includes over 700 children and youth from over 62 linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
