Ottawa Fringe Fest Volunteer Opportunities

Description
The Fringe Fest is back in person June 16-26 and we want you!
Volunteers are needed for various roles over the ten-day festival between 4:30pm and 11pm on weekdays and between 12:15pm and 11pm on weekends. Shift lengths vary between 2.5 and 4 hours long.
You can sign-up to volunteer at Ottawafringe.com/volunteer/ or read on for more information about volunteer roles.
For all positions please let us know if you require any accommodations and Fringe will work with you to support your participation in the festival.
**Please note all volunteers will need to show proof of full vaccination (2+ vaccines) and wear a mask during shifts.**
Usher
Average length of shift: 2.5 hours
In teams of two, the ushers will support Box Office Attendants by greeting patrons, checking tickets, and helping patrons find seats in the venue.
Wayfinder
Average length of shift: 3h
As a wayfinder you will support people in navigating the Arts Court and Ottawa Art Gallery buildings to find the shows, the Courtyard, and staff as needed.
Snackbar
Average length of shift: 3.5h
Snackbar volunteers will sell pop, sweets and other snacks to audiences at the snack bar in the Arts Court Studio. Snackbar volunteers will need to handle cash and maintain a float. They will also need to be able to bend down and lift up to 20-30 lbs.
Studio Attendant
Average length of shift: 2.5h
The Studio Attendant will keep an eye out for the health and safety of patrons in the Studio and keep the space clean and free of garbage. You will monitor interactions between patrons and artists to see if there is potential harassment, and report to staff if action needs to be taken. You should be comfortable standing for extended periods and talking with people.
Chill-out Space Attendant
Average length of shift: 3h
The Chill-out Space Attendant will support making the chill-out space as welcoming as possible, be a resource for folks who need support, and assist them in getting water and other things that are needed. You will maintain health and safety practices for the space, including making sure masks are worn in the space, cleaning/sanitizing equipment as necessary, and maintaining a quiet space. You should be comfortable speaking to people and interpreting whether they need space or support.
All-Stars
Average length of shift: 3h
All-Stars can be called in as support in any of the other roles. You should be familiar and comfortable with general volunteer roles and happy to jump in when and where needed. You should be comfortable on your feet and carrying/pulling items up to 30 lbs.
Fringe25 Team
Average length of shift: 4h
On June 25, we will need extra volunteers to support different events happening throughout the Arts Court and Ottawa Art Gallery. You should be comfortable to jump in as needed, speaking with patrons and artists, and handling cash.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
Volunteering with Fringe is an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends, be part of a thriving artistic community and see lots of free theatre.
More specifically, for every shift you work you will be able to attend a show for free, we will provide snacks for volunteers, there will be free volunteer appreciation shows each day, and after the festival we will host a volunteer appreciation event to say thank you for all your hard work.
How will the organization benefit?
Since 100% of ticket sales go to the performers, the Ottawa Fringe festival relies on volunteers, grants, and donors to keep going and growing.
Simply put, if you volunteer with Fringe you are a key piece of making this festival happen.
