Description
This year’s Ottawa Indigenous Fashion week kicks off on June 29th and wraps on July 5th. The SDNR team is seeking volunteers to assist with the event. If you enjoy meeting new people, like to create positive meaningful connections and are interested in learning more about fashion and environmental degradation – then the team would like to hear from you.
The following positions are available:
Hosts/Hostesses to assist with check-in on the day of the event;
Public speakers;
Coordination Mentors;
Lights, music and technology grips; and
Communication and marketing
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
Research suggests that volunteering provides many benefits to both mental and physical health. It helps counteract the effects of stress, anger, and anxiety, combats depression, tends to make people happier, increases self-confidence and provides a sense of purpose. In this regard, volunteers who decide to assist with this project will take away many benefits from the engagement initiative, they will also be contributing to reconciliation.
How will the organization benefit?
SDNR Community Engagement was founded at York University and the Schulich School of Business in 2013. Much of our community programming would not be possible without the meaningful support of our many volunteers. To this end, our organization not only benefits, many of our participants do as well. And this assists with building positive engagement which is an essential part of who we are.
