Description

Progress over pain is a six-week online program that focuses on self-management for people living with chronic pain.

Over the six weeks different topics are covered that relate to chronic pain, including the science of chronic pain, stress, sleep, goal setting, communication and engaging in meaningful activity. Sessions are approached using principles of self-management, cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness.
Participation is interactive during sessions, and self-reflective activities will be provided to complete between sessions.

Workshop groups meet once a week for 2½ hours, over six weeks.

The workshop is led by two leaders who have taken the Peer Leader Training.

The training will take place entirely online and will be held over 6 days. You will need an internet connection to join. A tablet or computer would be recommended vs joining with a mobile device.

How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
As a leader, you will have the satisfying task of integrating the contents of the program and learning group facilitation skills that can be transferred to other areas of your life. Most importantly, you will watch people affected by chronic pain successfully manage their health conditions by using the skills and tools that you have shared with them.
How will the organization benefit?
As a volunteer you will enable us to provide The Progress Over Pain workshop across the Champlain region. The workshop is led by two leaders who have taken special training. The leaders are volunteers or health care professionals, many of whom have chronic pain themselves.
