In June 2012, the Canadian government passed The Purple Day Act, declaring March 26, “Purple Day”, the official day for Epilepsy Awareness across Canada. The excitement spread and the entire month of March is now regarded as Epilepsy Awareness Month. This year, the annual Purple Day celebration will take place on March 25 from 2:30pm-4:30pm. Volunteers are needed from 12:30pm-6:00pm to help with setting up, facilitating different activities such as midway games, art project, and trivia/information table, goodies table and take down after the event.
The event will take place at Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Ave W, Ottawa, ON K1P 1J1 in the Jean Pigott Place.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
Volunteers will learn event preparation and execution, as well as working with vulnerable members of the community and their families.
How will the organization benefit?
Epilepsy Ottawa is a locally-operated non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of those living with and affected by epilepsy in the National Capital Region. Volunteers will be helping to spread awareness for those living with epilepsy in the Ottawa region.
