Abbeyfield Houses Society of Ottawa is a not-for-profit seniors’ residence affiliated with Abbeyfield International, with 1,100 houses in 25 countries worldwide.
Abbeyfield House Parkdale is looking for volunteers to participate on the residency committee and support the Director of Residency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in monthly residency meetings on the second Wednesday afternoon of the month from 1:00pm to 3:00pm;
Attend Residents’ Meeting once every two months. This meeting gives the residents an opportunity to voice any ideas, questions or concerns they may have;
Chair Residency Committee meetings in the absence of the Residency Director or as requested;
Assist in planning social events including birthdays and holiday parties;
Support residents and Director of Residency in conflict resolution;
Assist Director of Residency in responding to inquiries from prospective residents;
Support the Director of Residency in running the Tea and Tour;
Support the Director of Residency in developing strategies to address resident complaints and concerns.
Qualifications:
Excellent communications skills;
Knowledge of seniors issues an asset.
