Seated Exercise Assistant
Volunteers with the seated exercise program will need to complete the following task for the position;
– Support to and from the program space for residents. This will include the need to push wheelchairs, training will be provided
-Support to engage residents in the program with positive supportive verbal encourage
-Potential to lead group under program facilitator supervision
This program runs on the following dates/times. In order to be successful volunteer applicants must be available for 1 or more of the listed times.
Weekly Friday Mornings 9:30-11
Biweekly Monday Mornings 9:30-11 (opposite week from the Tuesday)
Biweekly Tuesday Mornings 9:30-11 (opposite week from the Monday)
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
The volunteer will gain experience in supporting older adults living with dementia and other cognitive/ physical impairments to participate meaningfully in physical activities that meet their needs. Volunteers will gain experience related to program adaptations and facilitation techniques.
How will the organization benefit?
Through volunteer support of the seated exercise program a larger number of residents will be supported to confidently participate in physical activity.

Please note that we are not able to provide parking near the home. There is free on street parking with a time limit of 2 hours and secure underground parking at Lansdowne TD place that can be validated for $2 for 4 hours, this is only aviaible to volunteers on weekdays from 8-4pm. The bright side we are on direct bus routes 6 and 7 that have stops right in front of the Centre on Bank street.
